These three commitments were chosen because they are areas where a councillor can take direct action. Residents deserve more than promises that depend on winning future Council votes. They deserve commitments that can be acted on from day one.
Every Community
Bay Ward is made up of so many unique communities and neighbourhoods.
Each has its own priorities, challenges, and character.
No resident should feel forgotten. No neighbourhood should feel disconnected from City Hall.
When I reviewed four years of publicly disclosed ward expense records, I found that some areas consistently received support for local events and initiatives while others saw little or no identified direct neighbourhood investment. I believe Bay Ward can do better.
My goal is to dedicate approximately $80,000 annually toward neighbourhood engagement, community events, accessibility initiatives, youth programming, and resident outreach throughout Bay Ward.
This is not about taking opportunities away from one neighbourhood.
It's about making sure every neighbourhood has opportunities.
Every resident should regularly see their councillor, their ward office, and their ward budget at work.
Because where you live in Bay Ward should not determine whether you feel represented.
An Office You Can Reach
Residents shouldn't have to send an email and hope for a response.
If elected, I will establish a dedicated Bay Ward office within the ward and ensure residents have clear, accessible ways to reach their councillor's team.
The office will provide in-person support, multilingual service in English, French, and Arabic, dedicated contact channels for major issue areas, and consistent office hours.
Government should be accessible. Residents deserve to know where to go when they need help and trust that someone will be there to listen.
From Your Street To City Hall
A councillor's job is to bring the concerns of residents into the rooms where decisions are made.
Whether the issue is a traffic concern, a development proposal, a transit change, or a community project, residents deserve to be informed before decisions are made and represented when those decisions reach City Hall.
I will create more opportunities for residents to participate through community meetings, Community Voice Stations, newsletters, online engagement, and direct consultation.
When I speak at committee or Council, Bay Ward residents should know where my position came from.
My role is simple: listen locally, advocate city-wide, and bring your voice from your street to City Hall.
Where I Stand
Transit: Affordable First
Reliable transit starts with accessible transit, and reliability alone is not enough. A bus that arrives on time doesn't help if people can't afford the fare
I support lower transit costs, expanded affordability programs, longer transfer windows, and a transit system that works for students, seniors, workers, and families.
As someone who rode OC Transpo for years, I can understand the system residents use every day. When route changes affect Bay Ward, residents will have a councillor who arrives at Transit Commission informed by community feedback and prepared to advocate for their concerns.
With Stage 2 LRT construction continuing to affect Bay Ward, construction transparency is non-negotiable. Residents deserve honest timelines, clear communication, and accurate updates.
Housing: Growth With Community Voice
Ottawa needs more housing.
Renters, first-time buyers, seniors, and young families are increasingly being priced out of the communities they want to call home.
I support increasing housing supply while ensuring residents have meaningful opportunities to participate in the planning process.
Development decisions should not come as surprises. Before significant applications reach committee, residents deserve clear information, opportunities to ask questions, and multiple ways to provide feedback.
Growth works best when communities are informed, involved, and respected.
Homelessness: Hope, Dignity, And Services
Homelessness is one of the most difficult challenges facing Ottawa.
Clearing encampments without providing support does not solve homelessness. It simply moves people from one location to another.
Every resident deserves dignity, and every resident deserves safety.
I support evidence-based approaches that connect people with housing, mental health supports, addiction services, and community resources.
I will advocate for Housing First programs and work with community organizations already doing important work in Bay Ward.
Compassion and community safety are not opposing values. We need both.
Community Safety: Prevention and Partnership
Community safety means more than responding after something goes wrong.
It means creating neighbourhoods where residents feel comfortable walking, cycling, using transit, and allowing their children to play outside.
Drawing on my background in security, Police Foundations, social services, and bylaw work, I believe prevention, visibility, and collaboration are just as important as enforcement.
I will work with residents, schools, community organizations, police liaisons, and City staff to identify concerns early and address them before they become larger problems.
Traffic, Sidewalks, and Active Transportation
Every resident deserves safe ways to move through their community.
That means safer crossings, better sidewalk connections, improved accessibility, and thoughtful active transportation infrastructure.
I support cycling infrastructure, but I also believe residents deserve meaningful consultation when changes affect their neighbourhoods.
Missing sidewalks near schools, parks, shopping areas, and transit stations should not be treated as permanent conditions.
Bay Ward's Temporary Traffic Calming budget should be used strategically to improve safety near schools and residential areas affected by traffic overflow and construction detours.
Youth and Community Programming
Every young person deserves opportunities to connect, learn, and participate in their community.
Access to programming should not depend on income, location, or whether a family can afford private activities.
I will pursue grants, partnerships, and community initiatives that expand opportunities for young people throughout Bay Ward.
My goal is to ensure that youth in every neighbourhood have places to go, activities to participate in, and opportunities to build connections within their community.
Young people are not just the future of Bay Ward. They are part of Bay Ward today.
Ottawa Community Housing and Tenant Advocacy
Bay Ward includes significant Ottawa Community Housing communities, including Bayshore, Britannia Woods, and Michele Heights.
Residents in these communities deserve the same level of attention, accessibility, and representation as every other resident in Bay Ward.
I will work directly with tenants, community organizations, and Ottawa Community Housing to ensure concerns are heard and brought forward.
A councillor's job is to represent the entire ward, and that includes residents living in social housing, rental housing, and community housing.
